The wire is round or square. Only the square can be twisted (geometry). Joanie is cleaning and straightening the wire with a cloth. The more the wire is handled - the harder it becomes and the harder it becomes to work with.

Q. How many times have you been poked in the eye with wire?

 

A. Never because I wear glasses.

Here is the very beginning of getting these wires together at the start of the project.

 

At this point, when the wire is long and loose - it is fragile. Any bends will not come out and willl interfere with the degign process.

And now for the delicate work of embellishment with all the different pliers.

Ta da!

 

And some people can get their work photgraphed and uploaded immediately. We all have a lot to learn from Joanie.

This group above and below are made of a product called Fordite. Fordite was created by spray paint run-off when cars were painted the old fashioned way. The dripping spray created these wonderful patterns. Cars have not been painted in this fashion scince the 1980's, so Fordite is not being produced anymore. Please be sure to look at these pieces on Joanie's site as my photos do not do them justice. These pieces are absolutely stunning up close.

And here is a collection Joanie pulled together for Halloween. This is the perfect accessory for the glamorous witch or seductive sorceress. The flower on the right is a polished piece of china.

The top middle is a Fordite. Cameos are back again - or never left - perfect for a Victorian costume . My favorite of these is the rectangular piece on the right.

This visit was focused on pendants, and the creation of the one you saw. Joanie makes earrings and other items such as the lone ring in the Halloween Collection.
