Project — Fourways Brand Identtiy
Client — Helical

Restoring a tired cotton mill in Manchester’s Northern quarter to its former glory.

Helical approached us to look at creating a brand identity and campaign for their most recent acquisition. The building has been in existence for over a century; a former cotton mill in Manchester’s industrial heart was now home to a range of businesses, many of which in the fashion sector.

We wanted to play on this theme, so we took visual cues from brands within that world – from refined and understated typography through to a photoshoot of residents that took a different approach from conventional property marketing materials.

The shape and footprint of the building were used to create a holding device with four configurations...

Output was underpinned by initial conversations with the client about the building getting substantial investment in the bricks and mortar – ‘the tenant may not realise the work done, but the transformation has been done properly’. We coined this ‘a matter of details’, a thread that went through all elements of implementation.

We also involved existing tenants to take part in a shoot, showcasing the various studio types and sizes on offer.
