Chromatic is a yearly festival that takes place in Montreal, Quebec. It celebrates the multi-faceted nature of art by showcasing the artistic works of local and international talents. A collection of four distinct parts, this festival has a very large target audience. Using bright colours, bold typography, and an evolving visual language, this identity aims to inspire and engage.
The following are initial design explorations, exploring alternative methods of visual communication.
Taking a literal approach in representing the transformative effects of visual art, I chose to distort human elements. Combined with colour, these images are dynamic and evoke an emotional response from the viewer.
Approaching the project in a more symbolic way, I used the phases of the sun to represent the different facets of this diverse event. Combined with an evocative gradient-based colour palette, these posters are more visually abstract, yet conceptually concise.
