JA!COBA  – Celebrating the Coba de Groot Foundation
The Coba de Groot Foundation has been stimulating visual art of, and for, young people in Fryslân, The Netherlands for twelve years. Coba de Groot derives her name from Jacoba de Groot, an intriguing personality who functioned as the director of the School of Household in Franeker, Fryslân.

Prior to her death in 2005, Jacoba decided that her legacy could be beneficial to promote knowledge of the visual arts to young people, as well as supporting their careers in the field of fine arts.

For the last twelve years, the art subsidy of Coba de Groot has been supporting ten different young, up-and-coming artists by providing them with a scholarship, professional coaching and a solo exhibition in Museum Martena.

The project shown here derives from the question of the foundation of how to celebrate these twelve years of the Coba de Groot Foundation.
