In 2010 Malcolm Cruickshank collaborated with graphic designer Rhona Cruickshank to produce a set of 11 limited edition deckchairs for the band Hope and Social. The chairs were a focal point of the Hope andSocial Fun Bus event, which culminated in a seaside gig.
The chairs were visualised by Rhona, and included a band badge of authenticity. Malcolm then produced the slings – the sling designs were laser cut from Kona Cotton and stitched onto the recycled sail of an oceangoing yacht. These slings were then slipped onto sustainable hardwood frames sourced from Southsea Deckchairs.

Following a game of musical deckchairs, where the winner took the chair of their choice, the remaining ten were auctioned to raise funds for the recording of the band’s next album, and received bids from as far away as Denver, Colorado.
