My first Moleskine drawing, done as an homage to my sketchbook hero, Matthias Adolfsson, whom inspired me to buy a Moleskine, and draw lively little detailed buildings.

Left: I had nothing to draw, so I just drew the first two spark of inspiration that hit me, which were the image of a Fez hat in a travel book about Morocco, and a TV commercial for a mummy movie.

Right: Inspired by a homeless lady I saw in Washington, DC. She was dressed in drab tones, and carried her only possessions as if they were her home. She stood outside of Nationals ballpark, amongst the crowds, yet completely alone - noticeable and invisible at the same time.

When I have nothing else to draw, I draw monsters, because you cannot draw monsters wrong, can you? Sometimes I draw them on a whim, starting with a want to work on specific shapes, and from there, it's all about color and fun - and also a good opportunity to play with my markers!

Preliminary pencil drawings for my monsters. Always draw with pencils, and never forget how to draw with pencils, because in the arena of creativity - and all of the tools digital and analog available to us - the pencil is the most raw, primal, visceral tool of drawings, thinking, and creating.
