The competition for the new Cultural center in Bamiyan presents an outlet for establishing a new cultural setting in Afganistan and - the first one in Bamiyan. As such, it can reflect Bamiyan‘s prominent historical background and the future vision for development and growth.
One of the key focal points from early on in the design process was to comprehend the proportion of the built and unbuilt ground on the site and to address the key topographical features of the site – the two distinctive ground levels. The proposal doesn‘t condensate the built area in one single unit, but instead forefronts a fragmented composition, interlaced with the surrounding green environment, the proposed park on both the visitor‘s and the employee‘s entrance. The final composition binds together all the units on the site in a fluid relationship between them.
