Drawing for a guest rooms, with seasonal theme – Spring. For the spring room I chose to work with Freesia plant. Freesia is a genus of herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, first described as a genus in 1866 by Christian Friedrich Ecklon (1886) and named after the German botanist and medical practitioner, Friedrich Freese (1795-1876). It is native to the eastern side of southern Africa, from Kenya south to South Africa, most species being found in Cape provinces
Symbolic meaning of Freesia: white freesias symbolize purity and innocence. They are one of the most popular wedding flowers because they are symbolic of the purity of the bride as well as the trust between the couple. Multicolored freesia bouquets symbolize friendship and thoughtfulness. Freesias were used as a way to pass secret messages to each other. Basically, if you received a bunch of freesias from someone during this time it was the ultimate sign of trust. In Japan freesias symbolize the start of spring and a festival is held every year where around 350,000 multicolored freesias bloom by Hachijo-Fuji mountain.
Xitan Hotel is located in Beijing in China, next to Tanzhe Temple, build by Zhejiang Cathaya International co ltd. This artwork has been specially designed for the Spring season guest bedroom, printed on silk and embroidered by hand.
