This Illustrated 3D map online map helped expand the scope of the Map Network's ability to provide clients with cutting-edge mapping solutions for unique events such as the Taste of Chicago festival.
Departing from the standard of event maps based on overhead 2D maps, this approach enhanced the user experience by adding a unique visual storytelling element to the robust amount of information the user would need to have an optimal event experience.
I developed this map with a team of two other artists at The Map Network to be used as an interactive online graphic for the Taste of Chicago festival. After we determined the skew of the base map, I designed and illustrated the finite details such as the text, icons, and details including the tents and event structures. Afterwards, I prepared the graphic for online usage. All work was done in Adobe Illustrator.

Individual graphic elements and icons I designed and illustrated for this map. As the client could not provide any photographic reference, I had to design each structure from scratch to be both general and neutral so as to work as an effective icon for navigation and not to confuse an event attendee, yet still be visually exciting and to fit the dimensions of the layout as provided by the event organizer.
Tents played a big part into Taste of Chicago Festival online map and guide, which I helped to design and produce for The Map Network. Since the client had no photo reference of what the tents would actually look like, I had to create basic tent icons, which would serve as visually exciting elements on the map graphic, yet also function as neutral iconic buttons for user navigation so as to not confuse an actual event attendee. The sketches shown here were for the purpose to deciding the style, perspective, and construction of the tents, which where created in Adobe Illustrator
