A selection of decals for Airfix models and precise replicas of emergency vehicles. With traditional silk screen printing, every page is printed by hand, one by one. Each colour layer is a separate print layer, and has to be printed over the top of the previous layer, so manual bleeds and absolute perfect registration is key. When drawing the artwork for this process every layer must be hairline perfect or the print is poor and the job is ruined. My training to become a traditional silk screen print tech and create these decals was a fine craft. From the drawing on screen to the entire dark room optical process to get the screens setup ready for hand printing has become the reason I chose my life as a designer. The craft is beautiful and the finish is stunning. A very special part of my creative journey.
