series of seed-like objects
These objects are created by curiosity, investigating the merge of porcelain and copper. I play with textures, coloures and effects of an earthy memory.
Each seed is first made in porcelain by slip casting and hand shaping to individualise and then start the magic of science.
The seedshell is created by copper particles in a chemical bath with a process that usually used in jewellery making. I use the bath in an unusual length of time and current that allows the particles to grow in a strange but natural feel structure. This technique gives an individual result every singe time.
Once the metal cover is settled I use different ways to colour the shells, by gold or silver plating, patina, acids, chlorides. All individual results. Just like in nature.
