#thefirstcup is a project between me and @znunipress to give a physical existence to her thefirstcup insta movement.
And what does it mean???

“Each weekday morning, in the midst of the breakfast rush, I pause and take a photo of my first cup of coffee. But there is much more to the story than just a pretty mug. That #thefirstcupis set against the background of my daily life, as a woman, mother, photographer, writer, wife, friend and daughter in law. It is set against the mess of breakfast, z’Nüni boxes, last minute studying and kisses goodbye. So I decided to document it and tell more of the story than just a photo can tell.
What started out as a little routine for myself has turned into #thefirstcup community. A wonderful group of people who too share their morning thoughts from Switzerland to Canada to Australia. “
So you see it is a #, a symbol, a community, a message, a story to share. And I am more than happy to be part of this story.

The firstcup project was a collaboration all the way through, Kristin explained her thoughts, we did some brain storming, reviewed the results in each stage of the process together and her comments inspired the next step. Without realising she was the most important part of the design process.
I enjoy involving my clients in the process, invite them into the details of making along. It brings them value and learning of something new.
That was the case between @znunipress and @monika.daul as well, in the creation of the second edition of thefirstcup.
With which, #theswissmakersproject was launched. The Swiss Makers Project means that the making of this cup will each time travel to an other ceramic artist in Switzerland. Each edition is unique and carries the style of each maker.
I designed the original shape, we work on the project together, I make all the production moulds and stamps and the next maker takes her own spin on this cup, become part of the collaboration.
Ceramic artist and designer @monika.daul , the next maker whom i’m happy to call my friend, started with these beautiful samples of blues.
