A classroom project aimed to study the characteristics of a mobius strip and give those properties a functional aspect. Mobius wallet is a wallet made out a mobius structure stitched with fabric, it can be moved such that one has the choice between two varieties of fabric as the base colour of the wallet. Hence the colour can be alternated.
Paper strips used to understand the basic properties. The idea was further explored by making a range mockups out of paper, plastic, foam and felt to test the materials and verify the dimensions.
First mockup using fabric canvas to give rigidity.

For the final mockup, I tried to create different fabrics using different methods of indigo dyeing. Shibori or tie and dye, helps creating resists in the fabric where the dye doesn't reach and hence creates pattern. I have applied the technique of Itajime Shibori(clamp-dyeing) and Kanoko Shibori(strings) for the two varieties.
