"Once upon a time, there was a girl named Suzanne Simard who lived in British Columbia with her family and her beloved dog in the forest."
"One day, during a walk through the forest, her dog fell down a latrine! As she dug into the ground to get him out, she discovered a whole different world under the forest floor.”
"Suzanne observed that under the ground there were stones, roots, insects, worms, water, and soil of different colors."
"But her most amazing observation was: the trees' roots were touching each other!”
"From this observation, she got a question: Why are the roots touching? Suzanne could think of many possible answers, or hypotheses... Maybe the trees are talking. Maybe the trees are wrestling. Maybe the trees are weaving something. Maybe the trees are trading things. Maybe the trees are bumping into each other because they can't see. Or maybe it's just a coincidence..."
"Suzanne wanted to find out which of her hypotheses were correct. So she decided right there and then, that when she grew up she would be a forest engineer."

And all about this is our story painted on iPad with puppets and live music...
