Introduction

[EN] With the coming of winter, brewers always brewed a special beer. For that they used malts from the previous year (new malts only arriving later in November), to which they also added some special spices to echoe the typical flavour of the pastries of that time of the year. This is how the winter beers appeared.

Respecting this tradition, Alaryk started brewing its own winter beer, or « Bière d'Hiver » in French. Alaryk Bière d'Hiver is a blond beer, finely spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger and cardamom. This aromatic gourmet beer is brewed using the high fermentation technique and is naturally cloudy.

[FR] Avec l’arrivée de l’hiver, les brasseurs ont depuis toujours brassé une bière spéciale, avec les malts de l’année précédente (les nouveaux malts n’arrivant qu’en novembre). C’est ainsi qu’est née la tradition des bières d’Hiver, avec l’ajout d’épices pour rappeler les pâtisseries typiques de cette période de l’année.

Respectant cette tradition, la brasserie Alaryk a créé l’Alaryk Bière d’Hiver, une bière dorée, finement épicée par la cannelle, le clou de girofle, le gingembre et la cardamome. Cette bière aromatique et gourmande est brassée en fermentation haute et est naturellement trouble.

Concept & Labeling

[EN] While respecting the visual identity that we realized for the Alaryk brewery (click here to discover it), we wanted the winter beer to be graphically different from the rest of the range. We thus wanted to create a winter-ish universe around that beer, and in order to do that we visually evoqued the starry skies of that time of the year. This overall theme is translated by the use of a paper from Arconvert ("Sirio Pearl Shiny Blue"), which is associated with a copper gilding and a white silkscreen finish, for a convincing result that plays with light reflections. The chromatic range, which is oriented around a deep blue, is also resolutely winter-ish.

[FR] Tout en respectant l’identité visuelle réalisée pour la brasserie Alaryk (cliquez ici pour le découvrir), nous avons souhaité que la bière d'hiver se distingue graphiquement du reste de la gamme. Afin d'évoquer l’atmosphère hivernale, nous avons développé un univers faisant écho au ciel étoilé de cette période de l'année. Ce thème est porté par l'utilisation d'un papier de création de chez Arconvert, le Sirio Pearl Shiny Blue, associé à un façonnage minutieux, une dorure cuivrée et un vernie sérigraphique blanc, pour un résultat séduisant qui joue avec les reflets de la lumière. La gamme chromatique, qui s’habille d'un bleu profond, et elle aussi résolument hivernale.
