Rose City Comic Con: Promotional Illustrations

Rose City Comic Con (RCCC) is the biggest comic book convention in the arguably nerdiest city in the US—Portland, Oregon. As a designer at Bonfire Marketing, I created illustrated graphics that helped increase engagement across RCCC’s social platforms and double attendance of the Con over the course of two years.
“2017 PDX Hunt” Event Illustration: Utilized in promotional posters, social media, and event websites, this illustrated map of Portland teases participants of the city-wide scavenger hunt event with highlighted locations that might be part of the scavenging clues. Attention is drawn to local comic book shops as well as some of the city’s iconic landmarks. Participants post photos of themselves at the various clue locations to Instagram and use the event hashtag, increasing the brand’s Instagram presence. The map was broken out into nine individual posts, so that a “photo grid” was created on the brand's profile page, creating a more dramatic presence for the event graphics.
More information about the annual event can be found at rosecitycomiccon.com and Facebook.
“Cosplay Is Not Consent” Posters: Sexual harassment is unfortunately a common experience for some attendees of comic cons. These posters were intended to grab attention with their bright colors and provocative illustrations, encouraging RCCC attendees to stop and reconsider actions that could make other attendees uncomfortable.
“RCCC Is Family Friendly” Promotional Graphics: Posted on social media to draw attention to the many activities and accommodations for children available at RCCC, these illustrations aimed to establish a fun, light-hearted relationship with parents who might not have realized that bringing their kids would be welcomed at the convention.
