(Un)usual Business

About this project
(Un)usual Business was initiated in 2013 as a research group by art institute Casco - Office for Art, Design and Theory and Kritische Studenten Utrecht (KSU) to do collective research on alternative economies. Inherent - Studio for form joined the collective in 2015 to support the activities and self-organisation of (Un)usual Business as designers.

We designed a logo and developed a visual language that contributes to making (Un)usual Business' research proces open and transparent. A language that refers to the schematic, abstract circles and lines which are often used by organisations to position themselves. Instead of using this language as an internal mean of communication, the choice was made to (iconically) let it function as external communication for (Un)usual Business.

The minimal use of circles and lines are applied in the design of the website and refer to the idea that economic organisations can be accessible and provide insight to each and every one – 'open' and 'flexible', characteristics of the new economic playground.
