The 10 existing double-storey villas built in the 1950s are to be converted into holiday homes without altering the existing footprint and building’s structural envelope. The design intention is to give each house an interior makeover and transform them into resort-style vacation homes. As the island is completely vehicle-free, the challenge was to select locally available materials and materials that were convenient to transport by bicycle or foot, as the island is completely vehicle-free.
