The Artists’ Retreat is situated on the Boathouse Site of the Mount Stuart Estate where views along the coast are abundant. The juxtaposition of the rocky sandstone coastline to the dense forest is the driving concept of this proposal. The exterior, a simple and monolithic concrete form sits on the site,. The material & lighting quality of spaces within mimic the topographical layers on which it sits.
