Jocelyn has a unique and creative approach to counseling, which comes from her background in yoga, massage therapy, and meditation. Now, Jocelyn doesn't necessarily use massage techniques in her psychotherapeutic approach, yet all of her skills and training come together to address the entirety of a person. When working with Jocelyn ... you move. You move emotionally and physically, which is just what we need in life; someone to prompt our movements and help us coordinate our effort for the coming challenges life throws at us.
Now, how to portray this on a website? We set to work brainstorming the look and feel of the website, and I got to work finding a photographer who could use both still and video to capture our vision. The creative brief I made for the photographer ran like this:
I want the photoshoot to focus on that warm feeling you have when you sit down with a good friend over tea to talk and be heard. Some shots coming to mind are a close up on a hand, a curl of hair, a necklace. It would be great to have a mom sitting there on the couch with her baby. You know, a story of two women coming together to talk about the stuff that really matters in their lives.
Our photographer nailed it. Jocelyn also nailed it by matching her outfits to the color of the available couches on location. Also, her hair looks amazing. The photographer used natural, available light to give a natural feel to the scenes. The video moments worked wonderfully to give a pause in the website. For example, when you click on any of the home page slider images (except online education), then you are taken to an interim page with a relevant video background and a button to continue forward. (All non-supported browsers, such as Internet Explorer, display a still image.)
