Character Design
Fuel vfx was commissioned by 20th Century Fox to design the look for the "Hologram" engineers in Ridley Scotts sci-fi movie Prometheus.  This project page is about the concept work developed before the shoot.
The original concept we brainstormed was that these 2000 year old recordings would behave like a decayed ct-scan where the Engineers outer suit and his internals would be visible. Skin, organs and skeletal information can be seen in these examples.

My role as Head of Design at Fuel was to lead the design development for the Engineer Holograms.
This was all done pre-shoot so Ridley could get an idea of how they might look so the sets and actors could be lit appropriately.

The various stages were research, style frames and then these turntables which i made using Maya.  Obviously the colour grade changed in the final film to a bluish, white hue.  After look dev was approved it then went into full production in 3D at Fuelvfx using Houdini led by VFX Supervisor Paul Butterworth.
