AWESOMOID _ Illustrated children's book

At the beginning of 2022, the beloved team from the Greece-England based publisher
'Petita Demas' approached us to illustrate and bring to life a children's book for ages 3-5 and 5-7.

The book, titled 'Awesomoid,' revolves around a curious little shape embarking on a journey of self-discovery as it searches for its true identity.

This story is about self-awareness and embracing our differences.

Firstly, we started sketching the characters.

We had to find a random shape for our shapeless hero character but still keep the geometrical style that matches the rest of the characters. We ended up with this crown head character that gives an awesome feeling to our hero.

Then, we translated the basic shapes such as circle, triangle, square, etc. into characters.
Their bodies embody the dominant shapes, and we added character by incorporating little feet with sneakers and tiny hands holding various objects based on their character.
The props our characters use are a reference to their shapes: the circle holds a circle banjo, the square character holds a Rubik's Cube, and the triangle holds a triangular slice of pizza, providing a more emphasized way for young children to learn about shapes.

After creating the characters, we integrated them into the book layout and set the scene for the interactions between them and our hero, Awesomoid.

The story:

Our little hero gazes at itself in a mirror, attempting to discern its true shape.
Fueled by curiosity, it embarks on a journey in search of its 'shape.'
Along the way, it meets other characters embodying basic geometric shapes—such as the circular character, the triangle character, the square, and more.

None of them can provide an answer to our hero's question.
"But suddenly, the wise Heart character tells our hero,
'Don't worry, my friend! You can choose your own shape and name yourself!'

So, our character names itself Awesomoid!"

The book spans 42 pages and is available in hardback, printed on FSC assured paper. You can locate it in all bookstores in Greece, featuring two editions: English and Greek.

Embark on a captivating journey of self-discovery with this curious little shape in search of its true identity. This book revolves around themes of self-awareness and accepting differences. Plus, it comes with 12 stickers!
We strongly believe in the power of education and creativity to make the world a better place. Join us on our journey!
