Between One Life, and Another
(On A Mountain Pass)
(Maybe snow is the nicest if you expect it the least)
Hätte ich gewusst,
dass ein neues Leben hier beginnt,-
ich wäre wohl stehengeblieben
und hätte ein letztes Mal zurückgeblickt.
[2023/03/27]In 2019, it happened that I came by this place for the first time. I was on travel only for a few days before, but it hadn’t felt right. I still suffered from the end of a relationship a year before, and felt way too lonely. Nowadays, I’m wise enough to know that the feeling of leaving something behind can even happen when there’s actually nothing at all to be left behind. It just takes time to feel comfortable again to be on a travel, and all on your own. Anyway, back then I decided to make my way back home earlier than planned. To my surprise, and after a few different routes due to road closures, I finally found myself at this mountain pass. I was amazed because I hadn’t expected it to be this nice here. At the end of that day, I witnessed an amazing sunset and was amazed how deserted this place was, no matter of its easy accessibility. As I drove into that night, it felt as if I was born again.
Recently, I was fortunate to visit this place again, and instantly liked it just as I did it four years ago. I went for a little hike, and enjoyed how fast it changed the view onto the surrounding mountains. Furthermore, I enjoyed the challenge of capturing this place with the circumstances of only the remains of snow this time.
Therefore, this little series is about finding strength in loneliness, and dedicated to my memories of M.
