The Coast in Spring, Pt. VII

The Coast in Spring, Pt. VII
[Spring, 2024]
(self-portrait, exploring a new place)

My yearly trip along the coast wasn’t off to a very good start this time. The long car ride went relatively smooth, but it was pretty much raining for almost a week. Fortunately, I continued, and now and then I was lucky enough to be at the right time at the right place when the sun was visible. I think, I remember two things particularly. The first thing is the impression as I hiked down the cliffs in darkness early morning and made my way with a flashlight along the long deserted rocky beach to witness a sunrise there. It felt like in a movie – on one side: the sea, and on the other: dark cliffs rising up. Just me, and the beam of light. The other one is that strong feeling when standing on some rocks at the sea and the waves are crashing against it. There’s always this energy present, and I never get rid of a slight fear one of these waves may come farther than expected and could carry me away. The sea is wild, the sea is free.
