Brief

For this project I was given a specific consumer and I had to create a unique branded product they might need or desire, based on the facts given about them.

My consumers were a young married couple, aged between 25-30, who were both junior doctors undertaking their two foundation years of work. They worked long hours and had a shared income of around 45 - 55 thousand pounds. Their spare time was spent renevating and maintaining the old town house they lived in and they had a penchant for collecting old and new furniture and trinkets, that they could add to the rooms they were 'doing up'.

Solution

Knowing the couple to be busy doctors, with a passion and pride for doing-up their house in their spare time, I felt that they could be interested in an organic cleaning product to maintain the cleanliness of their home and possessions. As health conscious doctors, they'd know that many cleaning products can contain harmful chemicals, so I felt that an organic cleaning product would be of interest to them. As 'DIY' people, I doubted they'd want to pay out for a cleaner, as it would be an added expense and they take pride in doing everything around the house themselves.

Having decided to create an organic cleaning product to answer the needs and desires of my consumers, I set about designing and branding it, inspired by natural ingredients such as lemons, lavender and bicarbonate of soda etc. I chose the brand name 'Simply Spotless' as it portrayed the brands values - simple natural ingredients (spotless of harmful chemicals), and the brands promise - to leave things 'Simply Spotless'.
Summary of idea generation for the brand name and developing a hand drawn logo.
Packaging development - looking into patterns that could be created with lemons (an ingredient of the product) and colours that I felt would give of a fresh, clean, gentle and calming feel.
Packaging development.
Pacaking layout experimentation.
Brand Standards Board. Showing the brands set logo and typefaces, the colour palette and the packaging pattern.

Below: Alternate logo colour schemes for other Simply Spotless products. Yellow is a multi-surface cleaner, while blue is specifically to be used for bathroom cleaning and purple is specifically to be used for kitchen cleaning.
