Folding the Page, beach pavilion concept

This project is a school assignment in which I had to design a small reading pavilion, for temporarily use on the beach. The time in which this had to be designed, was only 12 hours.

The concept theme of this pavilion is based on the corner fold of a reading a book. The form is made by folding several triangles into each other, all of the same measurements 360 x 180 mm, until an endless circular shape evolved.

The pavilion provides both enough storage capacity for books, and shelter for both rain and sun.

The reading pavilion operates different than a conventional library. It is an open source library. When finished reading a book or magazine, the users are supposed to place their books back into the pavilion, and trade it for a new one.
