Biobeat is a patient monitoring platform that remotely measures vital signs in real-time using a wireless, non-invasive, PPG sensor. This proprietary, globally patented, sensor enables measurement of a wide range of complex vitals.
The design process of the app was all about balance. On the one hand this is a medical device that is used to monitor the vitals of patients that may be suffering from different chronic diseases which is not something that can be taken lightly, as a fun nice-to-have interactive experience. On the other hand patients are people. This device and complementary app are to be used at home on a daily basis by regular non technical folks and need not be as technical as hospital equipment. While we made sure the navigation is easy to operate and the data is readable, we also found opportunities for color and searched for different ways to make the daily interaction with this app a friendly experience.
