Priority Park in Al Wasl, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is designed toreflect and complement the natural environment of nearby Wadi Hanifa. Whileproviding extensive open space for local residents, the park includes atheatrical plaza, natural amphitheater, formal gardens, adventure parks, andsignificant water features.
The park spans both commercial and residential spaces and thelighting has been designed to support both. The commercial end has a “highenergy” feel with large light sculptures, illuminated water fountains, andtheatrical lighting elements. The residential portion of the park has adecidedly quiet feel and lighting effects are more subtle. The landscape andnatural materials are illuminated, and light levels have been reduced toresidential levels.
Pedestrianand street lighting, in the park and throughout the city, has been selected torespond to the unique identities and needs in Al Wasl.
