Insight
MAGNET is a design studio specialized in visual design for moving image. The studio designs and makes commercials, campaigns, idents, title sequences and branding for areas like TV, film, web and mobile. It is also the company which I founded and run on a daily basis together with a partner.
Challenge
The main focus of the website was to present the work and value the studio creates for its clients as well as instantly provide an overview of latest work and recent activities. Additionally the website should reflect the studio's core values being solid, unpretentious and high quality.
Solution
I made a simplistic interface focused on presenting the actual work created. I designed a clean layout with neutral shades of gray to prevent it from interfering with the colors of the work. I designed project pages supporting big visuals and detailed showcases to describe what to expect when working with the studio. Furthermore I designed a front page that easily displayed work selected for feature and which dynamically loaded the latest blog posts. I chose Wordpress as cms system and build a custom theme from the ground up incorporating custom classes for quick layout, custom short-codes for media embedding and font-face/cufon replacements for fonts, while also seemingly integrating various externally developed services such as an image-viewer, video-player, newsletter, contact-form and file server.
