TrafficBuilder
A modular approach for generating 3D visuals with Cinema4D

Verjo B.V. is a publisher for traffic and transport by road.

Since the teaching material usually consists of photos, which are a time consuming job to make, the idea came up to set up a 3D digital working method for the production of large quantities of traffic sketches.

This digital workflow method was already used to explain detailed subjects, such as the operation of an engine. This provided insight into the production time of this kind of material and it soon became clear that setting up each unique situation on its own would become a time-consuming task.

Hence the development of the TrafficBuilder, a modular system that in fact offers building blocks for setting up the majority of the desired traffic situations. The system was set up within the 3D software package already present so it could immediately be used in practice. Internally it is based on the parametric definitions of geometry which are linked to a piece of programming logic. This can then controlled by the user via a simple control panel, to adjust the 3D geometry to his/her own wishes.

The strength of the system lies in the fact that it is modular, making it maintainable, multi-user, expandable and flexible in use. Something that is highly desirable when a large number of books are being published.
