I was commissioned to create an iconic cover for TIME's article on the forced behind Brexit and the supposed dismantling one the European Union. I suggested an EU flag unravelling and the team bought in straight away.
I started by fraying a piece of cotton and scanned it in at 600dpi in a few states of disrepair. The TIME logo and stars were added in Photoshop. I went to some length to ensure the design felt plausible and imperfect; fragile even.
