Centro Interpretativo Castelo de Guimarães

Centro Interpretativo Castelo de Guimarães          Museography / Exhibition design            2011 – 2016

Organized across three floors, this exhibition provides visitors with a journey through the history of the Kingdom of Portugal during the reign of D. Afonso Henriques. It also explores the architectural evolution of the castle and the city of Guimarães. The exhibition ends with a display of a wide range of "Afonsina" iconography.

To better preserve the historic building, this exhibition was constructed without any intervention that could cause harm or damage to the existing structure. Instead, solutions were implemented that were attached to the interior walls and placed directly on the floor.

The exhibition was created using self-supporting structures made of wooden plywood sheets. These structures served as graphic communication supports and holders for interactive solutions. Since there was a lack of local archaeological documents to illustrate the exhibition extensively (such as weapons, ceramics, iron pieces, bones, engravings, or paintings from that time period), the environments were graphically recreated. In cases where actual objects were found, they were displayed in showcases.
