EVERETT RESIDENCE
Aireys Inlet, Victoria, Australia

The brief called for a robust home that would maximise the lifestyle potential of the site and the region. A first level open plan living/dining/kitchen area with children's bedrooms and rumpus area beneath with separate building wing each side for the parents and eventual guests/studio.

The building form results from our desire to nestle the house into the landscape, with a roof form following the slope of the land - On arrival at the entry the porch, panoramic views of the ocean are seen, and once inside the large orange pivot door, the ocean view is framed through the glazed main stair wall and again throughout the dining and living area windows. A suspended glass link through to the master bedroom continues the theme, again allowing views to the ocean from the swimming pool and rear courtyard.  Once through to the cantilevered master bedroom, a large glass corner window allows further views to the ocean.

Bathrooms feature timber and bluestone floors, large mirrors and Rutso insitu poured concrete bench tops, with surface mounted ceramic basins.  A refurbished claw foot bath adds a touch of class. The kitchen also features the Rutso insitu poured concrete bench tops, and a combination of limed plywood, stainless steel splashbacks, white laminate and spotted gum lining boards, blending in with the plywood ceiling and feature walls. A feature is the black metal open fireplace, surrounded by spotted gum lined wall and floor, and with a insitu poured Rutso concrete hearth.

The utility stair is enclosed by glass wall and ceiling looking to the rear courtyard, and a feature woven black wire balustrade wihich allows communication between the living areas above and the childrens areas below. Large storage pidgeon holes in parchment and black are installed beneath the stair.
