The scope of the cooperation between Pradyż Ceramics, Traffic Design and our studio was to modernize a building which didn't stand out. Thanks to the installation the building as well as its immediate surroundings gained a new personality. In order to create the relief alluding to Gdynia's modernist character 128m2 or Paradyż Ceramics tiles were used which were modularly arranged in two layers on a previously prepared and designed frame.
All of the elements were respectively arranged and fitted with help of precise water jet technology, where cuts were made under high pressure with with the use of water and quartz sand. 2227 cuts were made in order to implement the project.
The main theme of our project were the elements of wind and water. Our goal was to accentuate the proximity of the sea. Our vision was to recreate the facade of the building as a water surface deformed by the wind. We were inspired by Polish mosaics and murals from the 1960s and with our project we wanted to allude to these historical designs, dynamic shapes which built imaginary worlds and spaces (Witold Skulicz, Witold Cęckiewicz, Czesław Dźwigaj).
