Dona Canô

The exhibition "Being happy is for those who have courage", organized by Tom Tom Produções Artísticas and Via Press Comunicação e Eventos, pays homage to the life and career of Dona Canô, matriarch of the Velloso family and a strong personality in the Bahian Recôncavo region. The exhibition tells her story, bringing a representation of the city of Santo Amaro da Purificação, where Canô was born and lived for her entire life, into Caixa Cultural de Salvador.

For the creation of the exhibition's identity, from the title, through the graphic pieces to the interventions at the exhibition site, we studied the history of Canô and Santo Amaro, synthesizing their narratives in graphic elements that evoked affective memories, and that represented the life and the home of the Velloso family. The letterings were based on Canô's own handwriting, using letters and documents from the family's collection and the color palette, likewise, was inspired by her favorite colors.

A exposição "Ser feliz é para quem tem coragem", organizada pela Tom Tom Produções Artísticas e pela Via Press Comunicação e Eventos, homenageia a vida e trajetória de Dona Canô, matriarca da família Velloso e personalidade forte do recôncavo baiano. A mostra conta sua história trazendo para dentro da Caixa Cultural de Salvador uma representação da cidade de Santo Amaro da Purificação, onde Canô nasceu e morou por toda vida.

Para a criação da identidade da exposição, desde o título, passando pelas peças gráficas até as intervenções no local da exibição, estudamos a história de Canô e Santo Amaro, sintetizando suas narrativas em elementos gráficos que evocassem memórias afetivas, e que representassem a vida e a casa da família Velloso. Os letterings foram baseados na caligrafia da própria Canô, utilizando cartas e documentos do acervo da família e a paleta de cor, da mesma forma, foi inspirada nas suas cores favoritas.

For the exhibition, together with the set designer Ana Kalil, graphic interventions were developed at various points, including: hand-applied lettering, creation of the timeline, with illustrations about Canô's life and illustrations for the tablecloths.

Para a exposição, em conjunto com a cenógrafa Ana Kalil, foram desenvolvidas intervenções gráficas em diversos pontos, entre elas: letterings aplicados manualmente, criação da linha do tempo, com ilustrações sobre a vida de Canô e ilustrações para as toalhas de mesa.
