The NRMA Members’ Review is an annual magazine available to the organisations 2 million members’. This year we aimed to create a more engaging experience, by tying the required content together with captivating members’ stories. Then encouraging members online to share their own stories via a custom website and social media platforms. To enhance the ‘Stories’ concept renowned Australian author Thomas Keneally (an NRMA Member for 51 years) was approached to write the foreword. The site was required to live within the existing NRMA webpage. Comprising of 5 chapters of written content, highlighted by 7 members’ documentaries. To create a rich environment for users to explore a layered, horizontal scrolling html 5 site was developed. As the site was primarily a reading and viewing experience, inspiration was taken from news based tablet apps to help achieve the right balance of readability and usability. Over the course of three weeks we travelled nearly 3000 kilometres to capture the imagery and content for the magazine, website and member documentaries.
