Facade Design

Chumbak is a vibrant & cheerful Indian brand born out of love for India offering unique design in products that are created to delivery ‘smiles and happiness’.

The brand offers a product line for home improvement, kitchenware, footwear, fridge magnets, key chains, t-shirts, bags, pens, books inspired by the India that we see every day. The brand stands of diverse visual experience hence rendering each store environment design different and new from the existing ones. ‘Make it a happy place!’ is the Store Design philosophy in which cool and funky kitsch comes to life in vibrant coloured forms in the eclectic signature store design of Chumbak flagship store. The visual treat extends from the storefront into the store in exciting coloured interior, iconic props and stunning visual merchandising creating an unforgettable store experience. This project is encompasses one such branch of the Chumbak store in Bangalore.

The brief was simple- Make it a fun and happy place which would make people smile. The facade needed to be iconic and recognisable on the busy street of Bangalore.

It needed to be a standout piece of splendour. Delving into forms that bring about happiness, following were some of the iterations created for the store facade. It was a long process but sometimes the answer lies in the simplicity of a form.

STAGE TWO
The use of equilateral triangles layered to create a dynamic form was the answer to all the iterations. Triangle being a dynamic form, in its equilateral form had the right attitude of playfulness. The colours selected were from the palette of the brand. An equal ratio of each of the colours was maintained with minimum overlap. The triangles were of two sizes namely of side 300mm and 600mm. A total of 200 triangles was proposed.

Stage Three
The facade was executed using acrylic panels of the selected colours mounted on a grey ACP sheet. Some of the triangles were highlighted by making them backlit. The facade in the busy street stood out as a fun place to be.
