Chimera is a Greek Mythological creature which is said to have the body comprising of a feline, a viper, and a goat. Homer, the author of the Odyssey and The Iliad described the Chimera as ‘a thing of immortal make.’ The best way to achieve immortality is to make such a mark on the world that one will be talked about for the generations to come. I aspire to create such art, which will leave my mark on the world, thus immortalising my creations and my name. I began by taking a reference image of Chimera by James Jean and did inking in Adobe Illustrator and then did shading in particular regions using the pencil tool. I kept my color palette bright and aggressive, bright pink for the skin and a slightly desaturated cyan for the jewels and crystals. I used a very dark desaturated blue for the wings and the tail to give a contrast and fierce look to the beast. I added some detail by using the darker shades of each region to add curves and creases as well as shadows. The typeface used is a very slightly modified version of Futura. I used this font because of the sharp corners and a heavy font weight which lives up to the theme of the design. The backdrop is simple white so that none of the features of the Chimera clash with the background. I added a border to the final artwork to give it a sense of completion and boundary and placed a few crystals in the two corners for aesthetics. Read Less
