Indeed.com is the World’s largest online employment search engine. Think of it as the ‘Google’ of job searching. It works very much the same: The website’s algorithm aggregates job listings from millions of websites, job boards, staffing firms, associations and company career pages. The site indexes jobs seekers’ content for free but if an employer would want to come up in the searches on the site, Indeed takes a payment...

So. Indeed.com is HUGE. This made smaller, local Dutch employers hesitant posting jobs there. Also Indeed’s overwhelming size made local entrepreneurs think Indeed’s algorithm was probably not capable of finding their small businesses the specific candidates matching their very specific and often unique job requirements.

Solution: for Cloudfactory client Indeed.com I conceived a 'story-doing' concept in which Indeed’s algorithm cloned itself into a cute little robot-body, enabling it to physically visit Amsterdam’s smaller businesses in person, to learn of their most specific and unique employer/ employee needs.

I named the robot 'Eddie N.' It is an anagram of Indeed 😄 (we built it ourselves, at Cloudfactory)

Our team sent Eddie N. out to investigate these companies, literally:

Later Eddie N. would in turn invite these companies’ owners for interviews in Eddie’s ‘virtual’ studio, resembling the clean look of Indeed’s website:

Hidden somewhere else, through a remote controlled voice-synthesizer, I interviewed Eddie's guests live. Through Eddie N's head-cam, his operators and I saw exactly where to guide him to.

Although basic, Eddie's tech really brought him to life. Karen Heuter did all art-direction. Including Eddie's looks. Jord Beets built the droid and did all programming. Olivier Teepe: Eddie’s portraits and videos.
