Explaining the project:

ABOVE YOU SEE THE WORLD'S FIRST COMMUNICATION CONCEPT FOR WHICH OPENAI'S ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DALL-E 2  DID NOT ONLY CREATE ALL OF THE VISUALS (IN JUST SECONDS TIME), BUT IN WHICH THE AI ALSO IS A FACTOR OF GREAT IMPORTANCE, CONCERNING THE CONCEPT'S MESSAGE.

IT WAS LAUNCHED JULY 6TH 2022, AS AN ORGANIC POST ON LINKEDIN, TO CREATE MORE AWARENESS FOR ONE OF GREENPEACE THEIR MOST IMPORTANT TOPICS, NAMELY 'CLIMATE CHANGE'.

Personal choices matter.

Corporations and governments are the biggest actors involved in the climate crisis, but scientists stress that individuals also play an important role. It comes back to: 'what products do you buy? What companies do you choose to support?' Personal choices matter. 'How do you vote? Do you get engaged?' Individual choices and sustainable lifestyle changes, can help create larger conversations and create a sense of community around climate change and the health of the environment in general. Read more about it here: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-climate-change-could-change-daily-life/

The problem is: the Dutch don't have/ see the problem. Yet.

The Netherlands are pretty well protected against rising sea levels. So the Dutch don't feel the urgency putting climate change high on their agenda's. In the meanwhile - due to rising temperatures - tsunamis, storms and tornados wreak havoc elsewhere on our planet, killing thousands. Destroying communities of millions. The Dutch invented a cynical expression explaining why they look the other way... We call it:

'De-ver-van-mijn-bedshow' ...

('The-far-from-my-bed-show') ...

So Olivier Teepe and I (Rodger Werkhoven) came up with the idea bringing climate change caused disaster a little bit closer 'to our beds', asking ai DALL-E 2 to render us the sort of confronting journalistic images we here in the Netherlands - knock-on-wood - NOT YET see in our media. To post those in our own LinkedIn communities: LinkedIn is the entrepreneurs' platform of choice to talk about 'getting things done', you see. Discussing climate change is less popular there, though. Luckily subjects like 'artificial intelligence' and 'ai-generated content' ARE.

Seeing it is believing it?

We asked ourselves: 'What if we here, on our doorsteps, visualize the sort of disaster climate change already causes elsewhere ... Might that perhaps motivate people changing course here too? To get more involved, more emphatic? To join forces with global organizations like Greenpeace? To through these help unfortunate nations NOT having the financial resources to invest in the sort of high tech protection needed, making their communities safer?

Impact:

In less than two weeks our pro deo LinkedIn post reached 181.748 impressions, which is extremely high for an organic post on that platform. The healthy discussions triggered by it there, even reached media outside of LinkedIn. Olivier and I of course reached out to Greenpeace earlier. Offering them the concept and the ai-generated images for free. We did not get an answer... They are too busy saving the planet of course.
