ALIVE Wedding: Vol. 1 Issue 2

I had the opportunity to redesign ALIVE Magazine as they explore a period of rebranding their image. This also included a quarterly wedding publication. A lot of research was spent on the current "bookazine" market, the styles and trends as well as what made their new brand unique. The result is a clean, modern and feminine aesthetic with beautiful photography and art direction as the focus. The paper was upgraded from a glossy stock to an uncoated matte finish which brings out the color and quality in the photography. All layouts are built on a grid system and incorporate white space and minimal columns of copy for a relaxing experience.

All photos by Jennifer Silverberg unless otherwise noted.

I was responsible for the overall aesthetic concept, the design as well as the styling and floral arrangements. We wanted the color scheme to be appropriate for the summer season, as well as play into the element "fire". Warm tones, spicy peppers, and fire elements with candles and sparklers complete this issue.
The details of this shoot were enjoyable to plan and think of creative ways to incorporate the colors and theme. The floral arrangement I made included red peppers, limes and radishes for an unexpected summer twist. Using a pepper as the cracker garnish, habanero jam as a favor, tomatillos as tea light holders and limes as place cards complete the look.
The following feature (next three spreads) were inspired by fiery sunsets, ash and metallics to continue the fire theme for summer. Fashion Editor Sarah Stallmann and I collaborated on the prop styling and I created the bouquet and boutonniere.
