In calligraphic design the image flows from the same tool used to make the letterforms. I work in whatever style is appropriate to express the emotional feeling and subject matter. The project may be a book cover, as in Literary Feasts, an illustration for a product, as in the Hawaii design for Duty Free Shops, a signature-based brandmark like Naomi Judd, or a restaurant identity such as Pompeii, which has been featured in numerous award shows including the Type Directors Club.
