Don Valley Brewery

Richard had a dream. A dream to ditch the IT industry and brew beer. We were immediately onboard.

He approached us with an idea for his first 4 beers, a blonde, a pilsner, an amber and a stout. Brewed alongside the River Don, in Mexborough. Without beer names or even a first batch to taste, the identity started it’s life as the blankest of blank pages.
We delved into Mexborough’s history books and discovered the land his brewery now stands on used to be a glass bottle works. This gave us a nice starting point for the logo and inspiration for some of the names.

As our brief was to create the identity for a ‘proper' brewery we looked back at the visual history of public houses. We loved the craftsmanship and originality that went into stained glass windows, these served as great inspiration for our labels and pump clips. We created a bespoke typeface with it’s own leadwork, and accompanying colour palette derived from the beer itself. The first kegs get tapped in late 2016, bottoms up!
