Saphan Taksin

Street Art
First sketches.
The little road leading from BTS Saphan Taksin to the Sathorn Boat Pier. About 30.000 people pass by every day. A lot of people have their businesses at this stretch. The many commuters and tourists also attract a wide variety of opportunists and weirdo's. Working here has been an exercise in patience.
Okay dog, move on over please. Just wanted to continue paint here...
Coming from the Sathorn Pier the wall is hidden behind stairs leading to the Taksin Bridge. To lure the audience in I made some small images leading towards the bigger picture.
Working my way through the motorcycle parking lot...
..and the streetfood vendors..
..and another motorcycle parking lot..
..some more lazy dogs..
..and the Songthaew taxi's. They would come and go randomly, so it was never really clear when to continue.
Working at night was the only solution to cover the most heavily used parts of the wall, mainly the part where the taxi's are parked.
Only a few times the taxi's were gone. But the taxi's also cover the wall most time of the day, so doing an elaborate piece of work on that part didn't really make sense. I decided to leave it open and to finish the painted part in a cheeky way.
Besides that, the space between the back of the taxi's and the wall are used as a living room for the taxidrivers families. So basically you are working in an open toilet, another reason to keep it simple on that part of the wall.

And because of the very horizontal dimensions of the wall I tried a little experiment of making it a bit more vertical, a bit more compact. I guess (/hope) some people will notice that the bodyparts are connected and will stack the photo's at home to create a bigger image. It's not that easy with so many stuff in front of the wall. It's a concept I have to work on a bit more for another time, but for now it was nice to try.
