Book & Magazine - Cover Design & Illustration
A Selection Of Student Projects
A Selection Of Student Projects
The best book and magazine covers really serve as little posters for the content inside. In many ways the function and aesthetic is very similar to film posters so they can really be great examples of graphic design as a fine art.
These projects were created while I was a student at The American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL. As an illustration major I was required to not only create the illustrations within a professional schedule and context (reading the book/summary, submitting pencil roughs, submitting comps, etc.) but to also create the final design context for each piece. This was to show our understanding of the relationship between a book’s market, its interior content and the finished cover and illustration as published.
