Outpost 903 Gastrobar—Restaurant Branding & Interior

Interior Design
Branding
Named after trading outposts of the past where people met to exchange news, Outpost 903 is a gastrobar located in the heart of Singapore’s Bukit Timah district.

At 111 years old, the shophouse was originally Tin Tee House, a historic bakery known as the oldest single-storey shophouse in Singapore.

Taking our cue from here, we designed the interior and branding collateral to look utilitarian yet contemporary.
Instead of rebuilding the entire space, selected pieces of old furniture abandoned by the previous tenant were given a new lease of life. Intent to keep much of the original character intact, raw industrial furniture and fittings were brought in to complement the premise.
Fixtures such as copper door handles and outdoor lighting fixtures were customised when we couldn’t find the ones we needed to fit the concept. Completing the look is the lofty exposed ceiling—a feature used to cool tropical houses in the pre-air conditioning era—where a hand-painted logo presides over the indoor dining space.
In 2012, Outpost 903 received a bronze award for Interior Design in the acclaimed Gong Show Awards.
