Cold Iron Artistry: Brand Identity and Application

Background
The Cold Iron Artistry brand has been created to bring exquisite and unique works of horseshoe art to the market place of Dubai. A poetic and ancient term for Iron, ‘Cold Iron’, was believed to repel evil spirits, leading to the practice of hanging iron horseshoes in the home. Although horseshoes are no longer made of Iron the belief continues today, as the horseshoe can be seen as a sign of good luck.

The artist Chris Nurse is a long time resident of Dubai. Hailing from Zimbabwe he has spent many years working for HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum at his Arabian & Thoroughbred stables as a Farrier, shoeing horses. In his free time, he recently began to create objects with the abundance of used shoes found at the stables. By moulding and hammering and then welding them together his art grew, and he now creates life size sculptures of culturally relevant objects found in the UAE.

Solution
I was approached direct by the owner of Cold Iron Artistry, to produce a distinctive retail brand identity that will enable them
to go to market with their unique offering.

Following my business processes and expertise, a number of identity routes were created, where one was chosen and subsequently developed into a final design language and identity.

From this I was tasked in creating a number of sales & marketing collaterals’ for use within a number of upcoming Dubai based art exhibitions
