We've always loved experimenting with new elements, so Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan's jointly organised Teochew Festival and 85th anniversary couldn't have appeared at a less opportune moment—it was the first time we got acquainted with Chinese typography.
Festival collaterals and a three-in-one compilation of books were
delicately designed, utilising bright colours and tints of gold and complemented with dividers incorporating water elements—hinting at the pride Teochews have for their distinct Teochew culture.
Featuring the history of Teochew culture, congratulatory remarks, and interviews of Teochew businessmen worldwide, the unique three-in-one compilation weaves together young and old.
While most books are commonly only identifiable from its front cover, this special compilation was instead designed in such a way that the three books were identifiable and readable from both front and back when stacked together.
Wanting to bring new life to tradition, we also experimented with
the silkscreen technique to produce special shimmering effects throughout the compilation.
