We were engaged by Lucas Licensing to develop a series of step-and-repeat patterns for the licensing program of Star Wars Rebels, using the tone and attitude of the new animated series as inspiration. Our solutions for the patterns establish a sense of tension and conflict between good and evil. An overarching irreverence is depicted as the Rebels' defiant spray painted graffiti tagging of Imperial property and Banksy-esque, stenciled Imperial propaganda imagery. The incorporation of character art as either full-color CG or lineart illustrations creates an undeniable association between the patterns and the animated series.
