AM illustrated alphabet

The AM illustrated alphabet was created for the legendary sci-fi anthology Dangerous Visions, compiled by Harlan Ellison. The name is derived from a supercomputer that takes over control of the world in the famous short story “I have no mouth and I must scream” by the same author. Each letter is based on a combination of science, technology and man. They are full of printed circuit boards, circuits, cells, bones, anatomical drawings, technical blueprints, astral objects, galactic bodies and other shapes derived from books covering a multiplicity of subjects. The combination of the elements from which the letters are composed is reminiscent in form of illustrations in technical publications. In terms of content, the alphabet outlines the dangerous consequences of artificial intelligence, a dark Utopian vision, a black future. Due to the complexity of its bit character, the alphabet is at the very limit of the technical capacity of common text editors.

The type specimen contains all sources to each letter.
